Privacy Policy
Effective October 6, 2026
CampSzn is operated by White Oak Design Works, LLC ("we", "us"). This policy explains what we collect when you use CampSzn, why, who else handles it, and how to delete it.
The short version
- Where you camp is private. Your campgrounds, pins, and plans are visible only to you.
- We don't sell your data, show ads, or use analytics or tracking cookies.
- We never see your card details. Stripe handles payment.
- You can delete your account and its data at any time in Settings.
What we collect
- Your email address, to sign you in with an emailed link and to send you account and billing messages. There's no password.
- What you add to CampSzn: campgrounds and their names, map pins, links, notes, and sites; seasons, windows, candidates, and trips, including booking dates and site numbers; and your settings, such as your comfort range and temperature unit.
- Billing records, if you subscribe: your Stripe customer ID and when your access ends. Stripe keeps your card and payment details.
- Technical records. Our hosting providers log requests, including IP addresses, for security and to fix problems. We count some requests, such as link lookups, per account to enforce limits.
The app keeps your sign-in session and a few display preferences in your browser's local storage. It doesn't set tracking cookies.
Location privacy
Where someone camps is sensitive, so CampSzn keeps your places private to your account. No other user can see your campgrounds, pins, notes, or plans. To work, though, some features share a place with an outside service, without saying who you are, except where noted:
- Weather. To fetch typical temperatures, our server sends a campground's coordinates to Daymet, a NASA-funded dataset run by Oak Ridge National Laboratory. We store the results by area, shared across users, and don't record who asked.
- Pasted links. When you paste a link, our server opens it to find the place it points to. The site sees a request from our server, not from you.
- Place search. Town and place names you type are looked up by our server with Photon, a geocoder run by Komoot.
- Maps. Your browser loads map tiles directly from OpenFreeMap. Like any website, it can see your IP address and which part of the map you're viewing.
- Photos. Campground photos load in your browser from Recreation.gov and the hosts its listings use, which can see your IP address.
How we use it
Only to run CampSzn for you: signing you in, saving and showing your plans, fetching weather, billing, answering your emails, keeping the service secure, and fixing problems. We don't use your data for advertising or sell it to anyone.
Who else handles your data
These providers process data for us so CampSzn can work. They can use it only to provide their service.
- Supabase: our database, sign-in, and server functions. All of your account data is stored here, with daily backups.
- Cloudflare: hosts this site and the app, forwards email sent to support@campszn.app, and runs Turnstile, which checks that a sign-in request comes from a person.
- Resend: sends the sign-in emails, so it sees your email address.
- Stripe: takes payments, keeps your card details, and sends receipts and renewal reminders.
- Daymet, Photon, OpenFreeMap, and Recreation.gov: provide weather, place names, map tiles, and campground data, as described above.
We'll also share information if the law requires it, or to protect CampSzn and its users against fraud or abuse.
How long we keep it
- Your account data, until you delete your account.
- When you delete your account, your campgrounds, notes, seasons, trips, settings, and sign-in are removed right away, and your Stripe customer is deleted, which cancels any subscription. Copies in our daily backups expire within a few weeks.
- Stripe keeps records of past payments as the law requires. Emails you send us stay in our inbox until we delete them.
- Weather, place, and Recreation.gov data we cache isn't about you, and isn't deleted with your account.
Your choices
- See and edit everything you've added, at any time, in the app.
- Delete your account and its data in Settings.
- Email support@campszn.app for a copy of your data, a correction, or any other privacy request. We'll answer within 30 days.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit. Each account's data is walled off from every other account in the database itself, not just in the app. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your data, we'll tell you as the law requires.
Children
CampSzn is for adults 18 and older, and isn't meant for children. If you think a child has given us information, email us and we'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change affects how we use your data, we'll email you before it takes effect.
